Non-surgical Abortion /
Abortion Pill
Surgical Abortion
How many weeks in the pregnancy can I be? Up to 7 weeks (49 days) for best success (92-95%). 5 to 22 weeks. If the pregnancy is less than 5 weeks, there is an increased chance of failed abortion.
How long does the process take?
  • The first appointment to our Center is approximately 2 hours.
  • During your appointment you will take Mifepristone (Mifeprex).
  • Insert Misoprostol in the cheek of your mouth 24 - 48 hours later.
  • Several hours of cramping and bleeding may be experienced, during which the expelling of the pregnancy occurs.
  • A mandatory follow-up visit on day 14 at Presidential Women's Center, which takes approximately 45 minutes.
  • One 2-3 hour visit to our Center.
  • Depending on the length of pregnancy, the procedure takes between 5 and 15 minutes.
  • Follow-up visit at Presidential Women's Center or your doctor's office in 2 weeks.
How much discomfort is involved? From mild to very strong cramping off and on throughout the process of expelling the pregnancy. A prescription will be given to make you more comfortable. From mild to very strong cramping during the surgery. Patients receive I.V. sedation , which makes the process virtually painless.
Can the abortion fail? 5% - 8% failure rate. If the medical procedure fails, the process needs to be repeated or a surgical abortion is necessary. Less than 1% of the time the procedure fails and needs to be repeated.
What are the advantages?
  • The process may seem more natural, like a miscarriage.
  • No injections (unless patient has Rh- bloodtype), anesthesia or instruments unless there is a failure.
  • Being at home instead of a medical office may seem more comforting and private.
  • Any support person can be there during the abortion process.
  • Offers an additional termination option to women less than 7 weeks from her last menstrual period.
  • Depending on the length of pregnancy, the procedure takes between 5 and 15 minutes.
  • The procedure is highly successful.
  • There's less time spent cramping than with the other method.
  • Medical and counseling staff is on premise during the entire office visit.
  • The procedure can be preformed up to 22 weeks.
